5:45pm: And finally, a real life update
Played in a concert last night, doing Beethoven's First Symphony, Gordon Jacob's Sinfonietta, Weber's Clarinet Concertino, Dvorak's Romanze, and Reinecke's Dame Kobold Overture - down in Peebles, which is a remarkably pretty place. I think I'd like to retire there and compose when I'm 70 plus.

Work has been going well - Arcadians trip looks to be almost done. I just have to check the train tickets have arrived, print up some flyers, place listings in every Italian music website and free newspaper that I can find, and pay the youth hostel (once they get round to telling me how much I have to pay and confirm if they've received the deposit that I've already (to the best of my knowledge) paid by bank draft.

We've sorted out the money situation (at least temporarily) and the bank appear to be actually getting a move on - they've sent things out to the solicitor now, and hopefully he'll get them on Monday and we can arrange an appointment to get things signed on Tuesday, but if he's particularly busy it might be the Tuesday after that.

I can also pay for the youth hostel and final venues for the Okehampton group, and get some flyers and posters printed and put up.

Also got a few train tickets left to book for the group doing the Three Musketeers.

The group from Newcastle have confirmed that they want to go to Glasgow for a weekend at the end of October. Excellent.

I have the itinerary for Vancouver finalised. Good. Just need to book the youth hostel as well.

Also had a big request from an American jazz ensemble, but they want to go to Florence, Viennes and Paris. Crikey. And they want to go for 2 weeks. For 30 people, with all that they want, that's going to be about £20,000 excluding flights - it's a bit big for me to take on. Pity. I could clean up on that, but I'd rather stick to the Fringe.

Have found http://www.swordinhand.com - it's mildly amusing.

This week, I need to do all the things previously mentioned, and lots more marketing emails (now that I can use Outlook to do emails with a little bit of enriched text in them, that should be a lot more effective.) Welsh groups, Irish groups, and maybe even Scottish groups. After that, I'll move on to getting Americans in for the 2004 Fringe - there's no way I'll have time to write to every group that might be interested, but I can try.
